The LISTOS program, focused on bringing emergency preparedness resources to Spanish-speaking residents, is comprised of a series of discussions which:

  • Are organized by community members for the benefit of their own community
  • Present the basic ideas for preparation in a series of consecutive discussions
  • Empower participants to educate their own personal contacts
Until Help Arrives and CERT

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Are you ready for the next emergency or disaster? The CERT program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. 

The City of Fontana, in coordination with the San Bernardino County Fire Department, conducts a free three-day basic training course periodically throughout the year.

Until Help Arrives

Life-threatening emergencies can happen fast, and emergency responders are not always nearby. You may be the help Until Help Arrives!

Through the training, you will learn to:

  • Use simple and effective skills to save lives
  • Communicate with 9-1-1 operators effectively
  • Act to protect the injured from further harm
  • Position the injured
  • Stop life-threatening bleeding
  • Provide emotional support

This course is intended for adults or older teens (accompanied by a parent or guardian) with limited or no first-aid training.
