Swim Lessons
The City of Fontana's learn-to-swim programs are among the most comprehensive in the Inland Empire. We offer eight different levels in the morning and evening to fit almost everyone's schedule. Classes fill up fast! Registration now available on ActiveNet!
To ensure your child is placed into the correct level, the Fontana Park Aquatic Center offers Swim Tests free of charge! Swim Tests take place Monday-Thursday at the Fontana Park Aquatic Center from 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm, with no appointment necessary. Can't make it to a Swim Test? Please see chart below or speak to one of our managers!

| Crab & Crabling (Parent & Me) | 6 mo. - 2.5 yrs. | Parent and child are required to participate in the water together. Emphasis on fun in the water through several guided practice sessions that help the child learn elementary skills including water entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back kicking, underwater exploration and more! No swim test required. |
| Shrimps (Preschool) | 2.5 yrs. - 4 yrs. | Introduction to independent pool safety, water entry and exit, and basic swimming skills such as: kicking, bubble blowing, floating and underwater exploration. No swim test required. |
| Blowfish (Level 1) | 4 yrs. - 12 yrs. | Introduction to in water safety skills such as water entry and exit, fully submerged face, jumping, kicking, arm movement, breath control, supported floating, rolling over and persona safety. |
| Angelfish (Level 2) | 4 yrs. - 12 yrs. | Students will learn to float without support and recover to a vertical position, glides, front arm motion, back arm motion, flutter kicks and rhythmic breathing. |
| Squid (Level 3) | 4 yrs. - 12 yrs. | Students will learn to combine and coordinate arm motion, leg motion and rhythmic breathing, diving from the side of the pool, back crawl, elements of breaststroke and fundamentals of treading water. |
| Penguins (Level 4) | 4 yrs. - 12 yrs. | Students develop confidence in strokes, increase swimming endurance, build on breaststroke and learn sidestroke and elements of butterfly. |
| Dolphins (Level 5) | 4 yrs. - 12 yrs. | Objective is coordination and refinement of strokes. Participants build on butterfly, refine performance of all stokes and increase distance. Flip turns on front and back are introduced. |
| Hammerheads (Level 6) | 4 yrs. - 12 yrs. | Students will refine strokes to swim with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Students will also learn the fundamentals of diving. |
| Teen Lessons | 13 yrs. - 17 yrs. | Participants will be combined of all swimming abilities. Objective is to have every participant gain comfortability in the water and build upon previous swimming knowledge. Stroke performance goals mirror those in Level 6. |
| Adult Lessons | 18 yrs.+ | Participants will be combined of all swimming abilities. Objective is to have every participant gain comfortability in the water and build upon previous swimming knowledge. Performance goals is to have participants swim strokes to the best of their ability. Performance of all strokes is not required. |
| Aquability (Special Needs Swim Lessons) | 4 yrs. + | Students enrolled will range in all ages and abilities with different intellectual and physical disabilities. Students will be swim tested and placed together based on ability during the first class meeting. No swim test required. |
Important: Additional $15 applies to non-residents. No transfers, credits or refunds. Online registration is highly recommended and opens at 6am on the registration date. Assistance for in-person registration is very limited. Registration for all lessons closes the Thursday before the session begins at 9pm.

Lap Swim & Water Walking

Width of competition pool is 25-yards.
*All participants must be at least 15 years old. Youth Lap Swim is not offered at this time.
*Patrons should be prepared to share a lane with multiple people.

- Registration is only available in person. Online registration for Lap Swim and Water Walking is currently unavailable.
- Patrons must check-in at the first the front counter.

Aqua Aerobics

Lifeguard Training Certification

The course content and activities prepares candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and more advanced land emergency. Successful course completion requires full participation in classroom and skills, as well as successful performance in skill and knowledge evaluations.
*All participants must attend and successfully complete all class sessions to obtain certification. Certification is valid for two years from completion date.

Lifeguard Review

A current Lifeguarding certificate is required and must be presented to instructor before taking review. Participant must bring all personal equipment need to complete course. This includes swim suit, towel, and CPR mask.

Water Safety Instructor

Upon successful completion, students will be certified as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. A swim assessment is required prior to enrolling. Please contact the Fontana Park Aquatic Center regarding the best time to arrive for swim assessment. All courses are blended learning. All participants are required to complete online course work prior to every class meeting.

First Aid/CPR/AED

This American Red Cross course provides training for anyone who is interested in learning CPR and First Aid. This class is great for care takers, babysitters or anyone interested in knowing lifesaving skills. Course is blended learning - participants must complete online coursework prior to the in-person portion of class.
*Participants must attend and successfully complete entire class session to obtain certification.
*CPR and First Aid certification is valid for two years from the date the class ends.

Tiger Sharks Water Polo
The Tiger Sharks focus on teaching endurance, strength and the fundamental skills of playing water polo. Participants will gain experience and knowledge necessary to compete in water polo.

Fontana Lions - Special Olympics
No matter the person's age or skill level, Special Olympics has something for every person with intellectual disabilities. We deliver high-quality, year-round competition and training opportunities in an inclusive culture that stresses athletic excellence, rewards determination, emphasizes health and celebrates personal achievement.
All athletes must submit an online application to be cleared through Special Olympics prior to participation in programming. Once the online application is submitted, a link to the Medical Form will be emailed. The Medical Form requires a physical examination by a licensed medical examiner. If the athlete does not have access to completing the forms online, please utilize this registration application (PDF) and mail all documents to the address below. The application is also available in Spanish (PDF).

Fontana Aquatics Club - Seahorses
The Fontana Aquatics Club offers an opportunity for children to enjoy the challenge of competitive swimming while being taught in an exciting, enjoyable atmosphere.
There are two separate fees associated with FAC: (1) Team Unify is billed monthly and automatically for team associated fees and (2) City of Fontana's Perfect Mind monthly dues pay for FAC's pool usage and must be paid manually. To avoid late fees, payments are due within the first five days of each month.

Rentals 2026
Rental times and dates are subject to approval. For more details and available dates and times, please contact the Fontana Park Aquatic Center via phone at (909) 854-5111.
There is a two-hour minimum for all City of Fontana Aquatics site rentals. A refundable trust deposit of $150 is required at the time of booking the reservation. Deposit does not go toward facility balance. A $55 Non-Resident Fee will be applied to Non-City of Fontana residents. Entire cost of reservation must be paid at least 30 days before the rental date.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations requested at least 60 days prior to the reservation date will receive a refund of all fees paid, minus the deposit. Cancellations requested within 60 days of the reservation will result in a forfeit of all fees paid. All final payments must be completed 30 days before the date of reservation. If the balance is not paid off 30 days in advance, the reservation will be cancelled by the City of Fontana and will result in a 100% loss of all fees paid.
Making your Reservation
- Contact the Fontana Park Aquatic Center to find out if the date desired is available and get further information.
- When ready to book rental, fill out the Reservation Application (PDF)and have appropriate sections initialed and signed. Please drop off a filled application rental form at the Aquatic Center to reserve a date. Contact the Aquatic Center at 909-854-5111 to get in contact with our Rentals staff member.
- Make your final payment of the balance at least 30 days before your event.
- Attend and enjoy your event with the City of Fontana Aquatic Staff!
All rentals are on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations will not be taken over the phone and dates cannot be temporarily held.
Note: The City of Fontana will not offer Table Rentals in 2025. All tables will be first come, first serve.

Please view our Proper Swim Attire (PDF) and Aquatics Pool Rules Pamphlet (PDF). All swimmers must wear proper swim trunks. No denim, basketball, jersey or cotton shorts or t-shirts permitted in the water. All guests must pay the entrance fee above to enter the pool area, regardless if they are swimming or not. All children under the age of 7 must be within arms reach of an adult at all times. Floatation devices only permitted if Coast Guard approved (must have official approval seal).
Must be 48" to ride water slides.
