Responsibilities
The Communications Center, or Dispatch, is the critical link between the citizens of Fontana and the officers in the field. When you call the Police Department or 9-1-1, you will speak with a police dispatcher or call taker.
Fontana Police Dispatch
- Receives and processes 7,104 9-1-1 calls per month
- Receives and processes 10,560 non-emergency calls per month
- Receives and processes 20 Text to 911 sessions per month
- Are trained to handle all types of calls, both emergency and non-emergency
- Are responsible for the deployment, coordination and safety of officers in the field
Staff
The Communications Center staff includes:
- Communications Supervisor
- Four Shift Supervisors
- 18 Full-time Dispatchers
- Four Call Takers
- One On-Call Dispatchers
Equipment
The Communications Center is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment:
- Computer Aided Dispatch system (CAD)
- Automated Vehicle Locator and mapping system (AVL)
- Computerized intelligent telephone workstations
- Countywide digital radio system
