Responsibilities

The Communications Center, or Dispatch, is the critical link between the citizens of Fontana and the officers in the field. When you call the Police Department or 9-1-1, you will speak with a police dispatcher or call taker.

Fontana Police Dispatch

  • Receives and processes 7,104 9-1-1 calls per month
  • Receives and processes 10,560 non-emergency calls per month
  • Receives and processes 20 Text to 911 sessions per month
  • Are trained to handle all types of calls, both emergency and non-emergency
  • Are responsible for the deployment, coordination and safety of officers in the field

Staff 

The Communications Center staff includes:

  • Communications Supervisor
  • Four Shift Supervisors
  • 18 Full-time Dispatchers
  • Four Call Takers
  • One On-Call Dispatchers

The Communications Center is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment:

  • Computer Aided Dispatch system (CAD)
  • Automated Vehicle Locator and mapping system (AVL)
  • Computerized intelligent telephone workstations
  • Countywide digital radio system
