New Development & Construction

Assistance & Reviews

From the beginning of the planning process to final occupancy, the Fire Department assists developers, contractors, architects, and engineers to meet the fire protection requirements for all new buildings as well as improvement projects in existing buildings.

Some examples of what the Fire Department is responsible for reviewing are:

  • All fire protection systems and fire alarm systems
  • Building construction plans
  • Fire apparatus access roads
  • Fire hydrants and water supply

Plans are reviewed for compliance with the applicable fire and life safety regulations, codes, and ordinances. The turn-around goal is 15 working days and we are closed every Friday. We do not do "over the counter" or "expedited" plan reviews.

Plans may be submitted Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please see the submittal checklist links below for information on what the submittal requirements are. Payment in the form of cash or checks (currently, the City does not accept credit cards) made payable to City of Fontana.
We are located at:

Fontana City Hall
Development Services Office
8353 Sierra Avenue
Fontana, CA 92335
