Parking of Oversized / Non-Motorized Vehicles
Fontana City Code Section 17-162 prohibits the parking of oversized vehicles or non-motorized vehicles on any public street, public right-of-way or residential street for longer than four consecutive hours.
What is an Oversized Vehicle?
Oversized vehicles include:
- Any vehicle motorized or not, that exceeds 22 feet in length or 94 inches in height
- Accessory extensions such as side mirrors, trailer hitches or roof racks are included in the measured distance
Regardless of width, length, or height, oversized vehicles include all:

Non-Affected Vehicles
Automobiles, pickup trucks, sport utility vehicles, and passenger vans that are over 92" in height will not be considered oversized vehicles when they exceed the height limit solely due to the modification of the suspension system or the addition of oversized tires.
Oversized Vehicle Permit
The Fontana Police Department will issue a temporary parking permit free of charge if the following conditions are met:

Violation Fees and Permit Exceptions
Fees
Violations may be cited immediately. Fines are set by the City Council and listed below:
- First Violation - A fine not exceeding $100 for the first violation within one year
- Second Violation - A fine not exceeding $200 for a second violation within one year
- Additional Violations - A fine not exceeding $500 for each additional violation within one year
Permit Exceptions
- Any vehicle displaying a valid permit issued pursuant to 17-165
- Oversized vehicles making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares, or merchandise to or from any building or structure
- Any ambulance, paramedic, or public safety vehicle involved in an emergency
- Any vehicle being repaired under emergency conditions for less than eight hours
- For purposes of this section, emergency repairs will mean the need for sudden and unexpected repairs occurring during transport of the vehicle
- Any vehicle belonging to federal, state, or local authorities while conducting official business
