Military Banner Program

The City of Fontana’s Military Banner Program is designed to support, recognize and express appreciation for individuals of the Fontana community who are bravely serving in the United States Armed Forces. Currently, we have over 100 banners proudly displayed on major thoroughfares within the City.

Requirements

To be eligible for a banner, the following criteria must be met:

  • On active duty with any branch of the U.S. Military Services, and
  • A current resident, or
  • A former resident of Fontana during the ages of 1 through 21 years old.

A current or former resident who gave their life during their service is also eligible.

  • Santa Ana Ave
  • Slover Ave
  • Arrow Blvd

Military banners are installed on a first-come, first-serve basis at available locations in the designated areas, but can still be requested through the online form. Banners are limited to certain areas due to windy conditions.

Application Process

Sponsors may apply by

  • Completing the online form and submitting electronically; or
  • Downloading the brochure, printing, and submitting to:

Photo

Submit an 8x10 color photo of the service person in uniform. Digital photos must be in .jpeg format and 1200x1200 pixels/600 dpi. Digital submissions can be done through the application upload. Hard copy photos can be delivered or mailed to City Hall. All hard copies will be returned. 

Fee

There is a $50 banner application fee. Cash, credit cards, and checks are accepted. Cash and credit card transactions must be completed in person at City Hall.

Retired Banners

  • Active Duty service member banners will be removed once the service member is no longer on active duty.  At the time the sponsor will have the ability to:
    • Pick up the banner from the City
    • Have the banner presented at a City Council meeting.
  • Gold Star banners, for those killed in action, will be displayed indefinitely or as deemed appropriate by the City.
