Completed Projects

Sierra Crest Landscape Project

Completed in August of 2021, this project enhanced the streetscape by installing landscape improvements in the parkway along the east side of Sierra Avenue between Segovia Lane and Terra Vista Drive.

Traffic Management Center (TMC) Fiber Optic Project

Completed in March of 2021, this project installed Pan, Tilt, Zoom (PTZ) cameras at 40 intersections citywide. This project also installed fiber optic cable to close the gaps in the system allowing enhanced communication of traffic signal operations throughout the City back to the TMC located in City Hall.  

Jurupa/Live Oak Traffic Signal

Completed in January of 2021, this project installed a new traffic signal at the intersection of Jurupa Avenue and Live Oak Avenue and installed new ramps to comply with Federal ADA regulations. 

Foothill Boulevard - Oleander Avenue to Cypress Avenue

Completed in June of 2020, this project widened the roadway and constructed new sidewalks to fill in gaps in the pedestrian path of travel within the project limits.  A new traffic signal at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Oleander Avenue was constructed with signage and striping.  Construction of a new landscape median and pavement rehabilitation was also be completed with this project.

San Bernardino/Cypress Avenue Traffic Signal

Completed in May of 2020, this project installed traffic signals to improve the existing 4-way stop and increase connectivity to Cypress Elementary School. The return ramps were replaced to comply with federal ADA standards. 

Merrill/Oleander/Fontana Avenue Improvements

Completed in March of 2020, this project installed new traffic signals at the existing 5-way stop intersection and installed new ramps to comply with federal ADA regulations. 

Citrus Avenue West Side - Santa Ana to Slover

Completed in January of 2020, this project widened the street to allow for two lanes of travel in each direction with a striped median and turn pockets on the west side of Citrus Avenue from Santa Ana Avenue to Slover Avenue. This project also included improvements to the existing drainage system. 

Foothill Boulevard - Sierra Avenue to Mango Avenue

Completed in January of 2020, this project widened areas of Foothill Boulevard between Sierra Avenue and Mango Avenue to increase the roadway capacity from two lanes in each direction to three lanes in each direction.  

PE Trail at Maple Pedestrian Signal

Completed in May of 2019, this project installed a Pedestrian Signal at the Pacific Electric Trail Crossing at Maple Avenue.

Active Transportation Plan

The Active Transportation Plan (ATP) is a city-wide plan that provides a clear and comprehensive framework for new and safer connectivity of non-motorized transportation options throughout the City. The ATP was adopted by the City Council on November 14, 2017.  To view the ATP click here

Local Roadway Safety Plan

The City of Fontana's LRSP was adopted by the City Council on October 25th, 2022.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) established a program for cities to prepare a Local Roadway Safety Plan (LRSP) to identify safety needs and recommend projects to address these needs. To view the LRSP, please click here.
